What made you choose Red Adept Editing?

Someone recommended them in a thread on Facebook (I forget who now, as it was a while ago), and I’ve been using them ever since. I buy the Sweetheart Package, and since I’ve been using Red Adept, I rarely get emails from readers that find errors anymore!

You’ve worked with many editors. What did you enjoy most about working with them?

Many of the editors always put a little note about what they liked in the book. The suggestions to fix my awkwardly worded sentences are great.

What inspired you to start a writing career?

I’ve always been an avid reader and always imagined a writing career would be a lot of fun. But in my younger days, I was more practical and became a software engineer. After getting laid off from software engineering, I figured I didn’t have much to lose and wrote my first fiction book at age fifty.

Do you have a favorite place or time of day to write?

I always write in the morning first thing after taking care of the dog and cat. That’s my most creative time. By noon, my creativity has dwindled quite a bit, so I usually spend the afternoons on marketing.

Do you like to plan before you write? Or do you prefer to start and see where the story goes?

I’m a big plotter. I write a ten-thousand-word to twenty-thousand-word outline for each book.

Where do you find the inspiration for your mysteries?

Everywhere! Television shows, books, everyday life. I’m always on the lookout for an interesting way to kill someone or a place to hide a body.

You have some great covers. Who does your cover work?

I have two cover designers: Lori Grundy at Cover Reveal Designs  and Tina Adams

What do you do when you’re not writing?

Mostly just think about writing. Sometimes I go fishing or do some gardening.

You have such fantastic titles! Any advice on coming up with a catchy title?

I spend a lot of time thinking about them! I usually look up words that have to do with my book in the thesaurus and then put a bunch of options on paper and play around with them.
