Atravel is a nation of floating islands hidden within the clouds, held together by chains. Its inhabitants understand it to be the last remnants of human civilization, formed when the Great Arbiter, the creator of the skies, saved a select few from a great war that ended all life on Earth.
On one of its islands reside Aer and Alius, a pair of twin brothers soon to come of age. Treated as rejects for all their lives, the two see a chance to make a name for themselves when the adults start evaluating those within their age group and their skill in Sky Control, the ability to shape the air to one’s will, said to be a blessing from the Great Arbiter to their people.
But they have a rough road ahead of them. Their peers are far better trained, being favored by their caretakers for coming from more privileged backgrounds. What’s worse, Atravel views those struggling as deserving of their hardships, being justly placed under such conditions by the Great Arbiter. Will the brothers be able to rise and overcome their disadvantages, or are they doomed to remain helpless forever?
